Holiday Update #3

Boy, have we had a big day today! We met Dick, our Big Apple Greeter, who showed us quite a bit of New York, helping us to get our bearings. We didn't realise but we are in such a great location with heaps of stuff very close. The NY public library is just a 5 min walk so I need to go back there to do some research for a work colleague. Grand Central is just near there too. We got subway tickets and took the subway to Brooklyn Bridge. We had lunch there at Pier A - I had mini burgers, very yummy- then went to Wall Street and got the subway up to Central Park. After walking through the park, we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The view from the rooftop garden is fantastic. Then Tim and I got the bus back down 5th Ave and went to Macy's but we were so tired, we decided to come back another day ready to shop. We didn't spend long at the Met but will go back again and look at it properly as well.
I can't recommend the Big Apple Greeters highly enough. Now we are much more familiar with our surroundings and are ready to head out tomorrow by ourselves. Tonight we'll plan what we'll do tomorrow. We haven't walked so much ever. I think a long hot soak in the bath is called for before bed tonight!
Last night we went to a Thai restaurant next to our hotel. I had chicken satay and it was one of the best Satays I've ever had.  I bought a muffin from Dunkin Donuts and had to hand over my little bag of coins as I hadn't learnt what they were. Will have to get more familiar with them before I go to the shops again!
Just got back from the best sushi I've ever had. Aji Sushi - I had a special roll called "Big Apple" which had apple, lobster and lettuce with mango sauce - oh so good. My husband had one called "third Ave Roll" which was shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, salmon, tuna with 3 sauces - also oh so good. We've never had sushi like it. Will definitely eat there again before we leave.
