Holiday update #9

Monday
Today we did the 'a taste of brooklyn pizza tour' which was fantastic. We were picked up on time and driven with commentary into Brooklyn. Paula our tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke with an authentic Brooklyn drawl, it was great. The first style of pizza at Grimaldi's was a thin crust neopolitan style. It was delicious and so simple, just tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. Then we stopped at Brooklyn Park under the base of the Brooklyn Bridge for some great views of Manhattan. Then we went to L & B Spumoni for Sicilian style. Whilst quite different to the first style, it was just as delicious. I'm not sure which was my favourite - it was a tie! Then we toured around some of the million $+ homes in Brooklyn and ended up at Coney Island which is no longer really an island for a short stroll along the promenade. The tour included lots of clips featuring Brooklyn in movies and a list of people from Brooklyn - there are a lot of them!
By the time we got back to the hotel, it was almost 5pm. And just our luck, we've been complaining since we've been here that there are no supermarkets that have crackerjacks or the new flavours of lays chips, none of the ones we had been to anyway. Then we went into a Duane Reade store which is a pharmacy, but it is so much more than a pharmacy - the one right across the road from our hotel is also a huge supermarket with so much more than the other stores we had tried. Of course, we're only here for 2 more days, but oh well, we found it in the end.
I think I might be coming down with a cold as I've got a bit of a sore throat and blocked nose. Hopefully it doesn't develop any further and is gone before the cruise starts... I think it is probably from the aircon in our hotel. We have to have it on because without it it is boiling but with it, it doesn't keep a static temperature and it gets hot then cold then hot again. And it is so noisy - it is like being on the plane again! Neither of us has had a good sleep since we've been here because of the temperature and noise in the room.
We went back to Aji Sushi for the 3rd time for dinner again. It is just so delicious and a great price. We've had different things each time we've gone there. Tomorrow we've got a 6.30am pickup for our Niagara Falls tour - really looking forward to a great day. Thankfully the heat wave seems to have finished as today was about 22c degrees and it is expected to be about the same tomorrow.
Until next time,
Kerrie
