Holy Night Stocking #13 & Other Finishes

I hope everyone had as great a weekend as I did in the crafting/stitching department! It was very cold, wet and wintery here on Sunday, so there was nothing else to do but stay inside and craft away!
I am very pleased with my progress over the weekend.

First - I finished off hand-stitching around the binding of my Christmas tablecloth. I am so pleased with how this turned out - especially, since when I first stitched the squares together, I had no idea what they would become!

I can't wait for Christmas to come so I can use it! Maybe we'll have Christmas in July this year so I don't have to wait so long...

Then I found the rest of my Christmas fabrics (I bought them last year when they were on special but had no idea what I'd use them for) and cut them into smaller squares to make placemats to match. I went a bit overboard on the square cutting as I have enough squares to make 30 placemats... I won't be making that many but if you've got any ideas for what I can use the remaining 360 x 3.5" squares for, let me know.
I laid out the squares and got one lot sewed... about 14 more to go so there are enough for our whole family at Christmas-time.

And finally, I finished off the Christmas stocking I made for a workmate's second child who was born just last week. I had the backing material all ready to go so once I stitched the name in, it was ready for sewing up.
It's a bit hard to see, but there are little gold specks throughout the backing material which I think matches in with the Christmas tree foliage on the front perfectly. Thanks to my friend Judith and her help over the years with sewing up my stockings, I had a pattern to follow and did this one all by myself! I am sure the family will love it.

Eventually, I did get around to doing some stitching on the Holy Night Stocking, so that now looks like this:
So as I said, it was a super-productive weekend for me. I wish there were more like that!
Happy Stitching,
Kerrie

  1. I really love all your work! I have been visiting your blog for a little while and have enjoyed it very much. An idea for your leftover squares might be a table runner to match the mats?
