Movie Review - Self/less

The Self/less movie was very interesting. It had a good storyline and seemed quite plausible even though it was using technology that supposedly transferred one's conscience/mind into another body to extend the original person's lifetime. My friend and I both came out thinking about what we might do if it was actually possible, plus it had a positive moral lesson too.

As far as stitching goes, I actually didn't do any this weekend! I just didn't feel the urge. Instead, I did a book folding project. At the recent NZ conference I attended, one of the delegates showed a few ways that old unwanted books can be turned into works of art - book folding is one of these. Here is my efforts. It is supposed to say 'Library' but I ran out of pages, so it cleverly says 'Libra' which is Latin for scales. Somehow that will need to feature in my explanation to people who ask what it means...

It actually looks much clearer in the photo, in real life it's a little harder to make out the 'a'. It was pretty easy to do and I think the effect is quite clever. I'd certainly like to do some more and will give it another go in the coming weeks. I'd just recently given away the last of my unwanted donations in the library, so I actually had to go to the Salvation Army store to buy some books - this one is Nancy Reagan's biography.
If anyone would like to give it a try, this is the tutorial I found on YouTube to be the easiest to follow.
Happy Stitching,
Kerrie

  1. My sister has done some lovley bookfolding projects! To me it just seems like too much work...I'd much rather spend hours on cross stitching...hahaha!
