Enchanted Ornament Stocking - Finished & Stitching ABC #5

Judith and I had a great night at Craft Night on Friday. She helped me finish up the Enchanted Ornament Stocking, and, boy, does it look amazing. Way better than I was hoping for and definitely the best finished of all the stockings I've done (this is number 6). She had some blue fabric with a sparkle pattern that had been sitting in her cupboard for a couple of years - it was as if it had been made for this stocking - a perfect match! She helped me line the stocking too so stuff can be put inside it and won't catch on the threads. I am so pleased with it, I almost don't want to give it away, but it has Scarlet's name on it so I guess it must go to Scarlet!

When I first made the tassel, my first ever, it was about 3 times as long as it is in the photo and looked terrible. Once I snipped it off to match the pictured design, it looked so much better and is a real feature of the stocking now...
And here is the finished product. I'm very pleased with it and I am pretty sure little Scarlet and her family will love it too when I give it to her for her first Christmas later in the year.
All I can say is a HUGE THANK YOU to Judith for her assistance, guidance and extra supplies that she let me use.

On Saturday night, we had a family dinner at our place for Mother's Day which was great fun. On Sunday, I continued with the Stitching ABC and finished off the sewing machine and started on the rug below it.

Enchanted Ornament - Final & Robot ABC & New Project...

I had a productive weekend at Aireys - finished the letter U on the Robot ABC. I'm surprised at the fanciness of this design - there are not many large areas of one colour, there is a lot of shading and the effect is fantastic. It just doesn't show up in the photos.

Then once we got home, I sat down and did the remaining snowflakes on the Enchanted Ornament - it is now finished and ready for making up. I hope to get that done in the next month or so. They're a bit hard to see...
And then I went through my stash to find the next project. I thought I had a lot more kits waiting to be done than I did - I'll have to do some more shopping! I ended up selecting another set of Christmas ornaments for my tree. There are 24 small designs that are made into hanging ornaments. Last night I marked out my fabric and sorted the colours ready for stitching to begin tonight.

Enchanted Ornament #51

WOO HOO - I am now finished, all but for a few snowflakes in the name bar across the top which will take about 15 mins. The blue patterned background came together quite quickly and I stayed up until I got it finished but I couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to do the snowflakes last night. They will have to wait until the weekend as tonight we're going to see another comedian - Ross Noble, and tomorrow night we're heading down to Aireys Inlet - which means my holiday house project can come out again - the Robot ABC.
I'm super pleased with how this has turned out and I just hope the new parents will love it for their daughter half as much!

So that means I have to find something else to start next week. Once we get home from Aireys on Sunday, I'll go through my stash and select something. I haven't looked in there for a while so there might be a few surprises I've forgotten about...

Enchanted Ornament #50

Last night I finished the gold border across the top, started the letters of the name and did a little of the blue background stitching. I'm hoping this name bar across the top won't take more than a few nights to complete as there is really only the blue background pattern to complete. Then I've arranged with my crafting buddy Judith to assist me with sewing it up into a beautiful stocking. Can't wait...
I can almost let myself start to think about what's next... but not just yet. Maybe in a few more nights I can have that luxury!

Enchanted Ornament #49

It's true - we have had a busy social life this past few weeks & months. I am someone who, once I get home from work, likes to put on my PJs and not go out again. Therefore, recent events have impacted on me and I've spent the last 2-3 weekends not doing much other than sleeping! I hope things will calm down a bit once this week is over, but who knows what might happen... This weekend we'll be off to Aireys Inlet so I hope to recuperate a little while relaxing at the beach house there.

Last night I think I finished the toe area on the Enchanted Stocking. I need to go over it again tonight for any missing bits but I'm pretty sure I've done it all...
Now it's on to the name bar across the top and more dreaded gold-thread work. The end is drawing nearer... I just can't wait to present this to the new parents although it might be better if I wait until we're a little closer to Christmas.

Enchanted Ornament #48

Still on the toe area for now but it is almost completed...

I am looking forward to getting onto the name banner across the top and then sewing it all up.
Arj Barker on Thursday night was great - very funny. It was like he was just talking to us for an hour - didn't use any notes, didn't seem to forget anything, it just all flowed really well. Next Thursday night is Ross Noble which should also be a great night. We also had a lovely birthday dinner on Friday night for my Mum's birthday so it was a good couple of nights out. It did take me most of the weekend to catch up on sleep though! Thank goodness for weekends!

Enchanted Ornament #47

I did the back-stitching around most of the toe area leaves which I'm very pleased with. Unfortunately, no more stitching tonight or tomorrow night. Tonight we are going to see a comedy show with Arj Barker which should be great and then tomorrow it is my Mum's birthday so we've got a family dinner to celebrate. Bring on the weekend - I'm exhausted!

Enchanted Ornament #45

A bit more of the leaves in the toe area got done last night...
There'll be no stitching tonight due to our big Girl's Night Out - so looking forward to it.

Enchanted Ornament #44

Yay, got some stitching done last night. Just a little more on the leaves in the toe area.
My sister has opened her birthday card now so I can share what we'll be doing tomorrow night - we're going to see Strictly Ballroom the musical and having dinner in the city. It is such a good choice of show as this sister grew up watching the movie everyday during the school holidays and I'm sure she'll be able to play any part word for word! My Mum will particularly enjoy having dinner with her 3 girls so it is win-win all round. Even though I saw the show 2 weeks ago (and loved it), I am looking forward to seeing it again because you always pick up more the second time around.

Enchanted Ornament #43

Did a little of the background fill-in last night. It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but it's there to the bottom-left of the bird ornament.

Today is the funeral for my Uncle so I probably won't get any stitching done tonight. It will be nice to catch up with family and friends, just a pity about the reason why we'll be catching up.

Enchanted Ornament #42

I finished off the back-stitching in the third ornament last night. Tonight I hope to start on the toe area. I'm starting to get a bit over this now, it's been going on for so long, but I'll persevere and my enthusiasm will return.

Enchanted Ornament #41

I've made it to Wagga Wagga (approx 6 hour drive) and have a nice motel room for the next 2 nights. I've just come back from a delicious dinner of prawn & crab pasta. Now I'm going to settle in and do some stitching on Robot ABC. Last night, I finished off the filling in the third ornament and did the back-stitching on the bird.

Enchanted Ornament #40

Tomorrow, I'm heading off down the highway to go to Wagga Wagga (about 5-6hrs drive) to get some training for something at work over the weekend. That means I'll be back onto the Robot ABC for a couple of nights.

Last night, I filled in some more of the third ornament... almost there now. Just got the mid-bottom left area to fill in and then I can start the back-stitching to define it. And that leaves just the toe area and name bar across the top until I'm finished.

Kerrie

Enchanted Ornament #39

Last night, I finished off the back-stitching around the leaves above the third ornament and finished the stitching on the right side of the bird inside the ornament. The stocking is getting big now, it is difficult to get a closeup of the whole thing to be able to see the details.

Enchanted Ornament #38

After the turmoil of the weekend, I returned to stitching the stocking last night. I finished off a bit of the back-stitching and gold thread-work. I'm not  a fan of working with gold thread, or any metallics really, but they do look nice when they're done.

Tonight I plan to continue with the third ornament.

Enchanted Ornament #37

Thank everyone for the best wishes for Clarence. The vet couldn't find anything that shouldn't be there so we'll repeat the blood test next month - hopefully it is just that Clarence's blood levels are on the low end of normal and that's just his range. If they're stable, we're good but if they've dropped next month, we're not so good... but we'll deal with that next month if we have to.

The sedative knocked him around a bit and he was way out of it all last night. Thankfully he was back to normal this morning so all is good!

Despite all the doggy-drama last night, I did manage to get some stitching done. I've filled in a little more of the last ornament...

Kerrie

Enchanted Ornament #36

I've started on the bird in the final ornament. I've also discovered I've made a mistake but if I don't point it out, you'll never see it... so I'm not going to point it out! Thankfully, there aren't a lot of straight lines etc so I should be able to camouflage the error fairly easily.

Clarence (our 13yr old Golden Retriever) is off having an ultrasound today as his last blood test showed some abnormalities. Hopefully there is nothing suspicious... just have to wait for the phone call with results.

Enchanted Ornament #35 & Robot ABC #8

The movie on Thursday night was a real feel-good movie - very enjoyable. Then Friday night I met with my friend Judith for some crafting. Did a bit more on the Robot ABC.
The letters O P Q R & T are now finally finished off with the missing colours filled in.
I also got a bit more done on the Enchanted Ornament Stocking. It is a Dimensions Gold Collection design so it is fairly detailed but the result is stunning.
Yesterday was a public holiday in Melbourne, so we had the day off. We finished off watching the end of Season 3 of Game of Thrones so we can start on Season 4 tonight. I also made some little chick cupcakes to bring to work. Very simple but I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Enchanted Ornament #34

Almost have a fully-enclosed ornament at the bottom now... This is going to be a lovely stocking. Just the toes and name at the top to go...

Tonight I'm going to see The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel so I'm hoping it is better than my last movie experience . I've heard good reviews about it so I'm looking forward to it. But that means no stitching tonight... have a great weekend!
