Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #14 - Finished!

All done - YAY! I love the little caravan - it is so cute. I might take a break for a day or two, if I can last that long, before I start the final one in this series.
I've started packing for our trip - only 26 days to go now! I've put out what I think I'll need on the spare bed, but I'll have to go through it again and put half of it back before I put it in my suitcase. I'm getting so excited about this trip, when I actually leave for it, I hope it's not a let down. The anticipation is so exciting.

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #13

A long weekend does wonders for stitching progress! Not far off finishing now...

My house smelt great all weekend with all the golden syrup I was using for the ANZAC biscuits, slice and vegan balls. So yummy, it was hard to restrain myself and keep some to bring into work!
My husband also had a successful weekend in the kitchen as he cooked his first ever big turkey. It turned out delicious, although we will be eating cold turkey for the next few days!

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #12

Finished off filling in the caravan and started on some of the back-stitching. It makes such a difference - I love it!
This weekend, I have plans to be in the kitchen for a while. Monday is the ANZAC Day public holiday, so on Tuesday, I'm hosting an ANZAC morning tea at work. That means I'll be baking ANZAC biscuits, slices and balls to share and hopefully raise some money for missions. Of course, I'll have to taste test what I bake, won't I! Yummm...

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #11

I forgot to post yesterday so it looks like I've done heaps since the last update, but it wasn't all done last night...
I'm hoping (and pretty sure I will) have this done before we go away - only 33 days to go now! Getting very excited. I have checked in for everything and now just have to wait for the time to pass. Luckily (or maybe not), I've got plenty to do both at home and work to keep me busy until the departure day arrives.

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #10

I had a very productive weekend stitching-wise. Very happy with my progress.

Our floors have all been replaced and it is all finished - last night was the first night in my own bed for a week, and it was lovely!

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #9

Working my way around the border on the other side now, and I'm happy with my progress.

Our flooring is almost done thank goodness - just the beading around the edges to be done now and then the removalists come back on Monday to put all our stuff back into place. I sure will be glad when it's all done.

We're heading off to Aireys Inlet tonight for a couple of days of doing nothing which will be very welcome! I'm planning on several naps in the afternoon!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #8

Started on the border out to the left side last night.
I got a better night's sleep last night with my own pillow. The flooring is making good progress. The old stuff all got ripped up yesterday and the guy is staying back today to get as much of the new floors put down so tomorrow can be a short day. Bring on the weekend! We are hoping to go to Aireys so it will be nice to get away from it all, even for a day or two.

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect... #7

I'm working my way around the border...
I'm exhausted with waiting for tradespeople for our flooring replacement. Yesterday was one of my long days at work and then we had to go back and forth between our house and our temporary accommodation to feed Clarence. This morning, I was up at 6am and ready to meet the flooring removal guy at 7am. Of course, 2 nights without much sleep and a really dodgy pillow at the temporary accommodation, mean I'm not feeling too bright today! I've packed my pillow today so hopefully I'll get a good night's sleep before having to get up at 6am again tomorrow to let the floor guy into the house again. I sure will be glad when it's all done!
One good thing about the flooring replacement (due to the washing machine that got stuck on the fill cycle in January) is that we found another problem behind a small bar fridge which had been leaking and really damaged the floors more than the washing machine leak. So it's a good thing all the timber floors are being replaced, and it means we'll have to get a new small bar fridge. Why is it one thing always lead to another, and another and so on...

Life doesn't have to be perfect #6

I got more done than I thought I would over the weekend, which is very pleasing. It was a busy weekend, and now I need a holiday - only 44 days to go!!

The family reunion and my Mum's birthday were both great and the football was very exciting but ultimately disappointing - we lost by 3 points after taking the lead several times. Plus one of our best players went down with a bad knee injury in the last 30seconds of the game. We also moved and packed a lot of stuff in preparation for the floor replacement this week.

Clarence and Russell (both Golden Retrievers) got along well on their test sleepover so we will be able to rest easy when we are away knowing Clarence will be happy and well looked after.

Life doesn't have to be perfect #5

All but the back-stitching on the word 'life' last night.
We've got a busy weekend ahead with packing up the house for the floor replacement, then a family reunion of sorts on Saturday afternoon, then my Mum's birthday on Saturday night, then football on Sunday afternoon, and Clarence's sleep-over with Russell - another Golden Retriever. Phew, I'm exhausted just writing it all down. That means I probably won't have a heap of time for cross-stitching, but where there's a will, there's always a way...

Life doesn't have to be perfect #4

I could only manage the white outline and the back-stitching on "doesn't" last night. Slowly but surely...Happy Stitching,

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #3

Only got the inside stitching of "doesn't" done last night - it still needs a white border and then the back-stitching.

We finally got news that our timber flooring that got wrecked when our washing machine flooded the house back in January, will be replaced next week. That means this weekend we'll be packing up stuff and getting ready to move all the furniture into the garage. It should take about 3 days and our insurance company is providing accommodation elsewhere as we won't have any cooking facilities whilst the flooring is being done. It will be like a mini-holiday! Hopefully everything goes smoothly and it stays to the timeline they have told us.

Kerrie

Life Doesn't Have to be Perfect #2

Last night I finished off the back-stitching around 'perfect' and also finished off the 'have to be' section too. I like it when progress seems to move along quickly...

I've just finished typing up some instructions for the people who will be minding our 14.5yr old Golden Retriever, Clarence, while we are away on our big trip in 48 days time! He is having a trial sleepover with them this weekend just to make sure he and their dog get along - there'd be nothing worse than 2 dogs who don't like each other for a whole month! I don't expect any problems, but just want to be careful - they are doing us a favour by minding Clarence so I don't want him to upset them too much either.

Life is About - finished & a new start...

Back-stitching all done so this is now finished! Yay.

On Saturday, I had a great day with my friend Judith as she introduced me to some amazing patchwork shops - one in Koo Wee Rup and another that is unfortunately closing down in Warburton. At the first one, I picked up some excellent fabrics to use as backings for the 2 Christmas stockings I've completed so they will be able to be sewn up after our holiday. I love the range of fabrics, how they all line up in colour order, different patterns, the possibilities are endless. Maybe I could get into patchwork one day... I'm certainly thinking about it.

Then on Sunday, I started another from this same series: "Life doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful"
I've just got the back-stitching to do around the word perfect - I would have finished it except that I got halfway through and found a mistake that required 4 letters to be unpicked and redone... I suppose it's better to find it earlier rather then later!
