Provence Market #13 & Patchwork non-update & New York Pillowcase

I filled in the bits remaining to complete over to the right-side border which is quite pleasing. Unfortunately, I had more time to do this cross-stitch than I was planning this weekend as my patch-working efforts didn't go according to plan...

I measured and remeasured, and it still isn't the size it is supposed to be when stitched, so I'm going back for a followup lesson from my friend Judith who has been very accommodating with my lack-lustre efforts! I don't have any photos of it as I don't want to show it off until it is right. Hopefully, it is just one little thing I'm doing wrong that Judith can show me and that will get me back on track... so frustrating!

But just to show I'm not completely hopeless, I did manage to make up a pillowcase from a crunchable map of New York that we used on our holiday last year. I think it will make a nice little gift for my husband who is dying to go back again...
I bought some white material with little silver dots and I think it ties it together nicely. At least something went right this weekend.
Hope your weekend was more productive than mine turned out to be.

Holiday Update #1

So I have decided I will take some stitching with me on our big trip and I got it together on the weekend. I'm going to take (you guessed it!) an alphabet design - nautical in theme - that I will stitch on dark blue Aida. I wanted to use pale blue, but the craft store didn't have any so I had to go with dark blue. The bright colours should still pop on the dark background, so that is OK.

I packed my bag on the weekend and I still have a fair bit of room which is good. I think we're just about ready to go with all our arrangements in place. Less than 1 week to go now...

Stitching ABC #52

Last night I finished off the B-Buttons block. Only C to go now...
On Wednesday night, we're going to see Mission Impossible at the movies - quite excited about that!
I'll have to get into my stash and see what's there to stitch next... I still haven't decided if I'm going to take something with me to New York. I'm not sure I'll have time to stitch, plus I really want to get some stitching stuff while I'm away. I've found a stitching shop in Quebec I'd like to visit when we stop there.

Stitching ABC #40

Now I've finished the organza and can do the back-stitching to define it tonight.

And now that my NZ trip is done, I can start to get all excited about our New York trip which is fast approaching - only about 6 weeks to go before it's here! Today I organised visas and checked-in to our cruise. I've already got a pile of stuff in the corner for packing. Yippee!!

Be Strong #4

Progress is coming along nicely with this design.
More planning for our trip to New York next year is continuing. We are SO EXCITED we just can't wait. Has anyone had any experience with a thing called the New York Pass? It's a card you buy that gives you 'free' access without the queues into over 80 attractions. We want to do all the touristy things so we think it might be worth it...? Ooohh, only 9.5 months to go!

No Walk This Way Today

Hi Everyone,
No stitching was done last night as I was a little distracted. My husband and I are planning to take some long service leave next year and travel to New York in Sep-Oct. Yesterday, the flight and accommodation quotes from the travel agent arrived and I was going over them all night - so exciting! I'm hoping to visit them today to pay deposits etc.

We're planning to stay in New York for 10 days and then take a 10 day cruise from New York up to Quebec. We so enjoyed the cruise we did a couple of years ago that we can't wait to go on another. There is so much to do and see in New York that even 10 days probably won't be enough. But we'll do our best to see as much as possible.

I've tried having a look for cross-stitch shops/places but haven't come up with much. Can anyone recommend any good cross-stitch shops to visit in the following places?
- New York
- Boston
- Rockland, Maine
- Halifax, Nova Scotia
- Charlottetown, Prince Edward
- Saquenay, Canada
- Quebec, Canada
Any hot spot suggestions to visit in these places (cross-stitch related or otherwise) would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Happy Stitching,
Kerrie

Footprints #13 & New York?

I'm pleased with my progress from last night. Filled in a lot of the blanks so the right block is almost half done now.

I have to admit, I'm getting distracted - we're contemplating taking some long service leave next year and heading off to New York and around the coast to Quebec for a couple of weeks. I just can't stop thinking about it! Can anyone recommend any cross-stitch related things in New York or Quebec or along the coast (Boston, Portland, Bar Harbor, Charlottetown, Sydney-Nova Scotia or Halifax)?
