More cushions

This weekend, I finished up 3 cushion covers to go with the beige one I made in the Bible books fabrics. They look great on the couch in the theological library where I work. They're all slightly different but use the same basic techniques. I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out!

And yes, this is primarily a cross-stitch blog, but as I say in the sidebar, occasionally other stuff pops up - and at the moment, that stuff is patchwork. I think I'm getting a bit obsessed with it. I can't stop looking at patterns and thinking how I can make them to suit my needs... I keep reminding myself, I have 2 more doona covers to do then I can play with other stuff... I just can't help it - the patterns and fabric choices are often so beautiful. I want to give foundation piecing a try next!

Stitching ABC #41 and FINALLY...!

Last night I did the back-stitching on the O block and finished it off.

And I FINALLY got permission to hang my Heartfelt pictures that I purchased and stitched specifically for my library. Originally, I had proposed to hang them above the computers and the study desks across 3 separate areas, but I only got permission to hang them in a cluster, and I actually think that is much better! They are on the ground floor and EVERYONE will see them every time they walk into the library so they are much more on display than I had originally planned. YAY! Besides the ugly fire hydrant next to them, I think they look great and I am very pleased with them. It's only taken about a year to finally get them into place... but I think it was worth the wait!

And YAY, it's Friday. I'm going to the movies tonight with my friend to see 'Self/less'. I'm not sure what it is about but it looks like a bit of a suspense movie so it should be OK. I'd like to go and see Mission Impossible after it is released next week too.
For the weekend, I think my sister and her family are coming over for dinner and to watch the footy on Foxtel on Saturday night, and on Sunday, we have the footy ourselves - hopefully it will remain dry!

Stitching ABC #12

Got heaps of back-stitching done last night so another block can be ticked off the done list.

I've got a stressful couple of days ahead as we're launching a new academic online open-access journal at work and I'm the journal manager so I have to make it happen. Every time I look at it, I find something else to fix up - it's driving me crazy. And then some people can view it, others get an error message for no apparent reason... why oh why can't things just work how they're supposed to?

On the happier side, it looks like I'll be going to Queensland in June to perform the library stock-take at that campus library. I'm hoping to go a few days early so I can spend the weekend with my sister and her family (they live 3 hours away from the campus library). Really looking forward to that.

Cross Stitch in the Library

For those regular readers, you'll know my drama about getting permission to hang the 8 Heartfelt Series designs in my library at work. Well, still no progress on that decision yet - the drama is about putting holes in walls for hooks. I know there are those stick on hooks, but the framer warned against using those as the weight of the pictures can get too much and if they come unstuck, they'll be destroyed. So I want proper in the wall hooks to hang them on...

But in the meantime, I CAN hang pictures on the ends of the rows of shelving - I have authority over those! So today I hung 3 designs that I used to have hanging in our old library before we moved. Two of them I can see from my desk, the third is down the back of the library but I'll put them on rotation so I don't get bored!
O Holy Night (completed 2014) and Inspirational ABC (2008) next to 23rd Psalm (2011).
Please ignore the junk in front of the second picture - I have a number of donations to sort through! My library is not usually so untidy.

Last night's new show on TV was 'Forever' which I really liked. Will definitely be watching it weekly. It seems to be the season for all the new shows (new to Australia, anyway) starting, so there's something good on every night.

Walk This Way #10

The log is not far off being finished now... even without the back-stitching, you can see the variations in it.
At work, it is time for our annual library stocktake - my FAVOURITE thing of all my jobs to do! Seriously, people look at me funny when I tell them that, but I really do love scanning everything, finding out what's missing, finding stuff in the wrong place, and tidying the shelves to make them look neat. Only downside is that it only lasts until someone visits the library and touches something - which usually isn't very long after I'm done.
Well, I'm off to start scanning... have a great day!

Give Thanks to the Lord #6

Another night of minimal progress - I've just been too tired lately to stitch for the normal amount of time. Next week I'm off to our Gold Coast campus library for the annual library stock-take (my favoiurite thing to do!!) so I'll take this with me and hopefully get close to finishing it.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Footprints #26

It's coming together nicely.

We had big dramas at work yesterday with a fierce storm flooding the library! A large section of carpet was under puddles but thankfully, none of the books got damaged! We might have some stinky carpet when it dries out, but insurance should cover its tidying and possible replacement. And my car got hail damaged too, so not too excited about that! At least I can relax on the forthcoming craft weekend - I'll need it more than ever!
