O Holy Night #35 & The Triplets#15

Friday afternoon I was able to pick up the framed The Triplets and I am very pleased with it. When I first walked away from the frame shop after selecting the matts, I wasn't convinced, but now it is done, I really like the colours and I am quite pleased with it.

Originally, I was going to go with strong colours for the matts to match those used in the design, but now I think the paler colours work better as it would have been too much with bright matts as well. I'll try to make a little movie of the progress tomorrow and post it when it is done. I'm still deciding if this will go on the wall in my spare bedroom at home, or in the bedroom at Aireys since that is where it was stitched.

As for O Holy Night, only a small amount of progress due to the continuing heat we are having here at the moment...

This J block seems to be taking forever to get through, but I'm not stressing about it.

The King King show we saw yesterday was interesting. I haven't seen the King Kong movie and didn't really know the story so it was all new to me. It had some quite scary moments in it which really freaked the kid next to me - he ended up sitting in his mother's lap and they didn't return after interval - poor kid asked if it was based on a true story! I can't say it was the best stage show I've seen, but it was good. The way they did the King Kong was amazing - it took about 10 people to make him move and lots of ropes and pulleys but the effects were fantastic.

The Triplets #14 & O Holy Night #9

Well, the Copyright Seminar I went to on Friday was one of the best I've been to - very informative and interesting. Usually they are dead boring. Anyway, after getting home late, we made our way down to Aireys Inlet after dinner and got there just as it got dark - perfect timing.

So here it is, another finish for the year - The Triplets

I'm still mystified as to why this is called The Triplets... but anyway, I love the colours. I'm not sure where I'll put it or how I'll get it framed yet, but that can be a job for the Christmas holidays.

When we got home , I continued with O Holy Night...

Jingle Bells #8 & The Triplets #14

Well, I didn't quite get The Triplets finished, but I reckon I can before Christmas - we go back to Aireys inlet once before then and I think (hope) that I only need one more weekend to finish it off...

Only one more of the 13 triplets (??) to be done now.

And when we got home, I finished off the third ornament from the Jingle Bells kit.

 Again, I love the bright colours in this kit.

The Triplets #13 & New Start

Here is where I got up to by Monday night on The Triplets:

Maybe another couple of nights will get it done. We go back to Aireys in 2 weeks so maybe I'll finish it then...


So when we got home on Tuesday, my dilemma was what to start next... Opening the cupboard, this was on top, and Christmas is nearly here, and the last plastic canvas was so quick to do, so this is my new project:

 By the end of day 1 - I've done quite a bit with the first ornament. It is so quick to stitch on the plastic canvas. My tree this year is going to look amazing.

The Triplets #12

We are enjoying a great long weekend at Aireys Inlet and we've decided to stay an extra day so there'll be more progress on The Triplets than I thought I would get done. I've finished the triplet between S and T and the one next to X. Two more triplets and a W to go...

This design has me stumped - why is it called The Triplets when there are 13 of them? Anyway, the bright colours really appeal to me and it's an alphabet design, which you would know are one of my favourites to do...

The weather on Saturday was absolutely perfect - about 27 degrees, just a slight breeze and very calm waters - it was beautiful at the beach. Sunday wasn't quite so nice - about 16 degrees, very windy and showers throughout the day - we even had the heater on after dinner as it got so chilly! Today is looking sightly better, but we'll see... we'll head off to the beach again later to walk Clarence. We've also experimented making a few things in the kitchen and we've had great success with some sushi rolls and home made spring rolls - yummy.

This is the first time I've posted something from Aireys and it seems to have worked OK, so next time I can do it again.

Paris Market #77 & The Triplets #11

Since I didn't have a photo of what The Triplets looked like last time I did some, I took one before I started this weekend...

 And this is what it looked like before we left...

It is so relaxing getting away from the 'normal' stuff down to the beach house for a couple of nights. It's enough to really refresh myself and face another few weeks of stress at work! Next time we go will be the Melbourne Cup Day long weekend (first weekend in Nov), so we'll get an extra couple of days down there which I am really looking forward to. This weekend was the first time we've been to the beach without a coat - it was in the 30s on Saturday and Sunday - beautiful!

When I got home, I continued with Paris Market...

I still haven't got European Bistro from earlier in the year framed yet - I'm waiting till I finish this so I can get them done in matching frames and then hang them together at home.

Paris Market #50 and The Triplets #10

We had a great weekend away. Whilst stitching, we watched the first season DVD of Game of Thrones - a bit gruesome and explicit at times, but an interesting story nonetheless. I finished off the triplet next to the letter A:

Also managed to get a bit more done on Paris Market after we got home - another bit of building...

Paris Market #49

I did manage to get a few more leaves done last night which is good...

This is quite an intricate design and probably not for beginners, but it is rewarding to see it coming together bit by bit. It will look great when I get it framed to match with my last big project (European Bistro)... and in my latest catalogue from The Fox Collection, I ordered another design (Midnight Rendezvous) that is similar as well. I could have a trio on the wall...
Well, my husband got back from Perth at 6am this morning after a 27 hour day so we will make our way to Aireys Inlet this afternoon for a couple of quiet days stitching on The Triplets ABC and walking on the beach. Have a great weekend everyone!

Paris Market #37 and The Triplets #9

Over the weekend, I stitched the A,B and C plus the beginnings of a twin next to the A on The Triplets ABC design. Then last night, I added the greenery to the Paris Market next section. Both are coming along quite nicely.

And hooray! - my new computer arrived so I was playing with that quite a bit over the weekend as well. Now I need to work out how to make the most of the cross-stitch stuff using it.

Paris Market #23 & The Triplets #8

Friday afternoon, we headed off to Aireys Inlet for the weekend - down on the Great Ocean Road - a beautiful place and we had great weather so it couldn't have been much better! I made good progress on the Triplets ABC but something made me laugh when I realised what it was... do you see the puppy peeing on the Z? What a strange thing to have in an alphabet sampler. I hadn't noticed it before until I got round to stitching it...

I love the colours in this design and know it will look great once it gets framed.  When we got home on Sunday afternoon, I worked again on Paris Market and got to the bottom right corner...

The Triplets #7 & Little Owls Tree #2

A lovely weekend of stitching down at Aireys Inlet with a couple of long walks with Clarence (our Golden Retriever) on the beach. Here is my progress on the Triplets alphabet...

Then, once we got home, I did some more on the Little Owls Tree - I just love the colours in this design. And being all full stitches with only a little back-stitching, it is quite quick to get through...

The Triplets #7 & Give Us Lord #15

I made it to the shops yesterday afternoon and got some more of the border colour, so that is all finished off now.

We had another great weekend at Aireys Inlet and I got lots of good stitching done on The Triplets on Friday and Saturday. I love getting away because there's nothing else to do but stitch!

Give Us Lord #6 & The Triplets #6

Well, after getting back from Aireys Inlet yesterday, I made very good progress re-stitching the bits I had to unpick after I left out a row of border. Plus, I got a little more done as well so I am pleased with that. The only downside is I ran out of one of the yellows so I need to go to the shops and get some more before I can finish off the section properly.

I also made lots of progress on the weekend on the Triplets alphabet - my holiday house project. I love the bright colours in this design.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments about European Bistro. It is very nice to have it all done. Now I'm looking forward to starting something new very soon, just got a few more mini Christmas stockings to get done first...

The Triplets #4

Well, thank goodness my cough is getting better - albeit slowly. I'm now on antibiotics and steroids and hopefully they will clear it up before next week when I go in for surgery to remove a wisdom tooth. Everything is happening at once! I'm going to have the week off work for recovery, and I'm hoping I can have a week of stitching, but it all depends on the pain levels. I will continue to post if I get anything stitched.

Now, back to stitching - we were at Aireys Inlet again this weekend on Victoria's Great Ocean Road - a beautiful location, and we had great weather to match. I got a little more done on The Triplets, but still some back-stitching needed to finish off the figure next to the H.

The Triplets #3 & Christmas Stockings #4

Didn't get as much done on The Triplets as I was hoping - it was quite warm and I had lots of little naps throughout the day!

After we got home last night, I finished off another of the mini Christmas Stockings:

Very pleased with how the French Knots turned out - as I've said in previous posts, I've never had much luck with them in the past, but my friend Judith gave me a lesson and since then, they've been working out fine. All these years I've avoided pieces with French Knots or I've replaced them with beads or other stitches. Now I can do the pieces as they were meant to be.

It's going to be hot here again today - 7th or 8th day in a row over 30 degrees C! Our house is like a little oven, even with air-conditioning!

The Triplets #2

Wow, what a wonderful long weekend of stitching and taking the dogs to the beach.

I managed to finish off the letters M, N and G on The Triplets kit, so I think that is pretty good going.

I must admit, I am not all that impressed with the kit unfortunately - a number of symbols in the pattern don't match the colour chart, so it is a matter of guesswork for some areas. Also, the overlap on the charts is done in a different way to every chart I have ever used before, so I've stitched one row too many on the N. Hopefully it won't spoil the final product, and I think if I hadn't mentioned it, no-one would have noticed. It does mean you have to pay close attention to the overlaps when stitching though.

Here is a picture of Clarence (the white one) and Cheese (the red one) in the water at the beach at Urquart's Bluff near Aireys Inlet.

They had a fantastic time and I think we wore them out as they both slept all the way home today in the backseat of the car!
